Who is speaking?
Qian is an investment specialist within the Emerging Markets Client Team. She joined Baillie Gifford in 2021. Previously, Qian worked as a senior client portfolio manager covering emerging markets strategies at Pictet Asset Management and JPMorgan Asset Management. She began her career at Merrill Lynch in 2008. Qian graduated MSc in Mathematical Risk Management from Georgia State University and BSc in Economics and Statistics from Peking University. Qian is a native mandarin speaker and a CFA Charterholder.
Paul joined Baillie Gifford in 2015 and is a client relationship director in the Clients Department, primarily focused on US clients including Vanguard. Before joining Baillie Gifford, Paul was a pilot for 15 years. Alongside studying at University, Paul undertook elementary flying training as part of a Royal Air Force Flying Scholarship. He then spent 12 years as an RAF Officer flying a number of aircraft including the Hawk T1 and Hercules C-130J. He was a flying instructor on the Hercules and undertook global operations including four flying tours in Iraq and seven in Afghanistan. After leaving the RAF in 2012 he joined Flybe as an airline pilot. Paul graduated in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Glasgow in 1999.
Iain is the head of our UK Equity Team and lead manager of the UK Core Strategy. He is also the joint manager on our flagship Managed Strategy, which he has been involved in since 2000, and became a partner of the firm in 2005. Since joining Baillie Gifford in 1994, Iain has spent time on the US Equities Team. Iain graduated with a MA in Accountancy from the University of Aberdeen and subsequently qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
Bill is an investment specialist, currently dedicated to our Smaller Companies strategies. He works closely with the Global Discovery Team, attending portfolio meetings and the Global Discovery Product Group. Prior to joining Baillie Gifford in 2018, Bill studied for a full-time MBA, specialising in Finance, at the University of Edinburgh Business School. Previously he spent five years with Mastercard, as a client account manager for institutional clients. Bill graduated MA in History from the University of Edinburgh in 2012.
